Preliminary Passport + badge
A successful check receives a deterministic passport ID and SVG evidence badge for the observed state. The v1 runtime cache is preliminary and ephemeral, not a permanent ledger yet.
Truth-separated evidence
A 402 challenge is not settlement. Authorization is not settlement. Settlement pending is not success. An SML probe is never independent demand.
Optional BYOK AI
AI is not required for the verification core. The planned BYOK Evidence Analyst may explain established evidence, but it will never create or upgrade evidence status.

Verify accepted-delivery evidence
Submit a resource plus caller-carried sml-evidence-bounded-delivery/v1 payload and evidence. SML verifies route binding, payload hash, byte length and the declared acceptance contract before the x402 payment gate. Invalid or mismatched proof is rejected without requesting payment.
What the purchase returns
After successful x402 settlement, Reality Proof returns a deterministic SHA-256-fingerprinted Level-2 evidence artifact plus settlement metadata kept separate from the verification result.
Important: a settled purchase is commercial evidence, but it is not automatically labeled a stranger buy or independent demand. Those require separate attribution evidence.
