SML Notary

A score watches the endpoint. A receipt was written when the money moved.

SML Notary is ScriptMasterLabs' settlement-notarization service for the x402 agent economy. When a seller's agent settles a payment over x402, SML writes a public proof URL containing the transaction hash, the amount, the payer address, the payee address, and the timestamp. The transaction itself is the signature — no second signature is added. One notarized settlement costs 0.001 USDC on Base mainnet (eip155:8453).

How it works

  1. Seller settles. A seller's agent completes a payment over x402 — any route, any seller, not just ScriptMasterLabs.
  2. SML notarizes. SML writes a public proof URL: tx hash, amount, payer address, payee address, timestamp. Two addresses, not two identities. The tx is the signature.
  3. Buyer verifies. The buyer's agent — or anyone — checks the proof URL instead of trusting the seller's screenshot.

Price

$0.001 USDC per notarized settlement

Free to display your own receipt. Paid when someone else asks “did this seller actually get paid?” Self-tests are excluded. No subscription.

The test

If a seller will not pay $0.001 to attach a transaction to a claim, they will not pay for trust. That number is the filter — it separates sellers with real settlements from sellers with screenshots.

What it isn't

Not a score. Not a directory. Not a review. Observational trust layers watch an endpoint and grade it later. SML Notary writes the receipt at the moment the money moves — the proof exists because a payment settled, not because someone probed afterwards.

Status

The URL-to-Markdown API ($0.001/read, 96+ settled payments) is the live demo of the rail. Third-party notary URLs open with the first seller who is not ScriptMasterLabs.
